Lamentation and Light (Study II)
אֵיכָה וָאוֹר (Eikhah va-Or) 2
Oil on canvas, on panel, 30x40
Eikhah va-Or II renders lamentation as weight. The lower field shifts toward burgundy and earth-bound red, anchoring grief in the body rather than the air. This sorrow does not rise; it settles. It bears the density of blood, soil, and covenantal cost. The thin golden band persists, but here it reads less as hope than as endurance—light that survives by compression.
Where Study I speaks in breath and vibration, Study II speaks in gravity. It is the mourning of the body rather than the cry of the soul. Light remains present, but only because the darkness makes room for it.
